Grant Park 40 Years Later

40 Years ago many of us wrote the US off. The police rioted during the Democratic Party Convention in Chicago.

Those of us in SDS were ready to decflare war. We took the position of, "Let Nixon win, it will heighten the contradictions."

When we did that and declared, "You don't need a Weatherman." We gave them the victory.

Now 40 years later at 8:40pm Central time Obama has 200 delegates to McCain's 90. Too soon to say landslide.

But tonight we are back in Grant Park. This time to celebrate the election of the first Black president.

May he end the right wing nightmare that has ruled this nation for all too long.
